Morocco Aims for a High-Value-Added Agro-Industry

Morocco Aims for a Premium Agro-Industry Focused on Value Addition

On Wednesday in Casablanca, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour, stated that Morocco must steer its agro-food industry towards high value-added products, particularly by enhancing brand premiums. According to him, this strategy is a crucial lever to support the national ambition for inclusive economic growth.

Speaking at the opening of the first edition of Agro Export Day 2025, themed “Made in Morocco, Desired Worldwide: Exporting Moroccan Agro-Food Quality”, the minister emphasized the profound transformation of the national productive fabric, now capable of producing some of the most complex goods in the world, such as commercial airplane engines.

To illustrate the sector’s evolution, Mr. Mezzour specifically cited the example of citrus concentrate, symbolizing the gradual upgrading of Morocco’s agro-industry.

Placing Quality at the Heart of Export Strategy

In light of the limitations of national resources, particularly regarding water and land, the minister stressed the necessity of enhancing Moroccan quality, moving away from bulk products, and investing more in innovation.
The success of this transition relies on the establishment of a truly strong brand that can distinguish Moroccan products in international markets.

He applauded the efforts of industry operators, thanks to whom Morocco now exports to 153 countries, while calling to continue the dynamics of innovation and competitiveness to foster inclusive industrial emergence.

The Executive Director of the Casablanca Stock Exchange, Zineb Guennouni, reminded that the Kingdom is entering a new phase of acceleration where individual ambitions converge with a collective vision.
According to her, this event marks a moment when “Made in Morocco” becomes not only a national pride but also a promise addressed to the world.

She highlighted the historical contribution of the Stock Exchange, which has been accompanying Morocco’s major economic turning points for nearly a century, and discussed the current dynamics:

  • accelerated digitization,

  • diversification of products,

  • enhanced access for individuals,

  • modernized regulation.

The agro-food sector occupies a strategic position, with around ten listed companies representing a capitalization of approximately 45 billion dirhams and a consolidated turnover close to 27 billion dirhams, more than a third of which is generated from exports.
These companies have invested over 3.6 billion dirhams in recent years, showing an average growth of 285% since their IPO and a performance of 6% since the beginning of the year.

A New Strategic Meeting for Agro-Food Exports

Organized by FENAGRI in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, and AMDIE, Agro Export Day 2025 positions itself as an international event dedicated to enhancing Made in Morocco agro-food products.

This inaugural edition launches an annual platform for strategic reflection, promotion of Moroccan products, and high-level B2B meetings.
It brings together over 200 participants, including business leaders, institutional representatives, exporters, international buyers, investors, and sector experts.
