CoDays 2025: Innovation and Humanity in Oncology
CoDays 2025: Moroccan Oncology at the Intersection of Scientific Innovation and Human Approach
The 16 November Oncology Clinic gathered national and international specialists from November 14 to 15 in Rabat for the 4th edition of CoDays, an event that has become a key fixture in the Moroccan scientific landscape. Themed “Oncology Care: Between Precision Medicine and Integrative Medicine”, the event highlighted the emergence of a model of oncology where technological innovation complements a comprehensive and humanized patient experience.
According to the organizers, this edition emphasized the importance of considering precision medicine—targeted therapies, immunotherapies, oncogenomics, and artificial intelligence—as a tool that works synergistically with interdisciplinary approaches. Supportive care, psychological assistance, nutrition, and adapted physical activity were presented as essential components of modern and comprehensive care.
Prioritizing Quality of Life in the Care Journey
Speakers stressed that therapeutic efficacy should not only be measured by clinical outcomes but also by the patient’s quality of life, which has become a major indicator throughout the oncological care journey.
Dr. Mounir Bachouchi, president of CoDays, stated, “The oncology of tomorrow does not rest on a dichotomy between technology and humanity, but on their ability to mutually reinforce each other.” He emphasized that scientific excellence must go hand in hand with listening, adaptation, and a sincere commitment to the patient: “To treat accurately means to support a life journey, respecting its needs and uniqueness.”
High-Level Scientific Sessions and Concrete Advancements
Over the course of two days, renowned experts presented the latest therapeutic advancements, merging scientific innovations with patient-centered approaches. Highlights included a roundtable discussion involving doctors, institutional representatives, and social coverage actors. The debates focused on adapting international guidelines in low- and middle-income countries, addressing a significant challenge: ensuring equitable access to innovation without compromising the financial stability of healthcare systems.
Symposia organized in partnership with leading laboratories such as Pfizer, MSD, AstraZeneca, Roche, Servier, and Janssen highlighted new developments concerning breast, lung, prostate, and pancreatic cancers. Presentations provided the most recent data contextualized within Moroccan clinical practices.
Constructing a Hybrid Moroccan Oncology Model
The discussions revealed a clear consensus: Morocco possesses the clinical expertise, scientific knowledge, and political vision necessary to build a hybrid oncology model that integrates precision medicine with comprehensive support.
Several recommendations emerged, including:
- strengthening interdisciplinarity,
- expanding training in psycho-oncology,
- greater integration of real-world data in therapeutic evaluations.
Participants also highlighted the importance of a platform like CoDays to promote national research, bring together public and private stakeholders, and structure a shared vision for Moroccan oncology.
A Landmark Edition Looking Towards the Future
With record participation, an ambitious program, and in-depth discussions on the ethical, economic, and human challenges of modern oncology, this 4th edition solidifies CoDays as a reference space for reflection and innovation in the field.
The 16 November Oncology Clinic extended its gratitude to all speakers, partners, and participants who contributed to the success of the event and looks forward to the next edition, continuing the momentum towards a standard of excellence in oncology that is closely aligned with patient needs.
