Strengthening Maritime Cooperation: Morocco and France Sign Technical Agreement

In accordance with the High Royal Instructions, the Minister Delegate for National Defense Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi, presided over a signing ceremony on Thursday at his ministry’s headquarters. This event marked the establishment of a technical cooperation agreement with the French Ministry of Defense, focusing on hydrography, oceanography, and marine mapping.

The ceremony was attended by Rear Admiral, Inspector of the Royal Navy, senior officials from the Royal Armed Forces, and the French Ambassador to Rabat, Christophe Lecourtier, who was accompanied by a delegation led by Laurent Kerleguer, Director of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the French Navy (SHOM).

This agreement is part of efforts to bolster military cooperation between Morocco and France, particularly in technical fields related to maritime safety. It aims to enhance the capabilities of the Moroccan Royal Navy while ensuring a gradual transfer of responsibilities regarding the production and dissemination of nautical charts covering waters under Moroccan jurisdiction.

Through this partnership, both countries affirm their commitment to mutually strengthening their technical and operational capabilities, especially in a key area for navigation safety and the management of maritime spaces.
