Paul Pogba Returns to Training with AS Monaco After 18-Month Suspension
After an 18-month doping suspension, Paul Pogba made his comeback to the field this Thursday, participating in his first training session with AS Monaco. At 32 years old, the 2018 World Cup champion is embarking on a new chapter in his career, which has been interrupted for nearly two years.
The Monaco club reported that Pogba rejoined his teammates before starting an individualized reconditioning program designed to help him gradually regain his optimal fitness level.
Having joined AS Monaco at the end of June with a two-season contract, the former Juventus midfielder and French international (21 caps) is hopeful about reviving his career in Ligue 1, where he could make his competitive return as soon as October.
To recap, Pogba tested positive for testosterone metabolites, an infraction that initially drew a four-year suspension. This penalty was later reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), allowing him to return to the pitch sooner than expected.
