Five Candidates Selected for the Position of President of the African Development Bank (AfDB)

Five candidates have been officially selected to succeed Nigerian Akinwumi Adesina as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), announced the pan-African financial institution.
The shortlist of candidates was validated by the Steering Committee of the AfDB Board of Governors, which comprises 81 member countries, according to a statement released on Friday on the bank’s official website.
Here are the five candidates chosen for the election scheduled for May 29, 2025, in Abidjan:
- Hott Amadou (Senegal)
- Maibo Samuel Munzele (Zambia)
- Tah Sidi Ould (Mauritania)
- Tolli Abbas Mahamat (Chad)
- Tshabalala Bajabulile Swazi (South Africa)
