Tata: Follow-up Meeting on the Foum Zguid Basin Rehabilitation Program

Meeting on Flood Rehabilitation Program in Tata Province

A committee meeting focused on the monitoring and evaluation of the 2024-2026 rehabilitation program for areas affected by flooding took place last Friday at the Tissint municipal headquarters.

Presided over by the governor of the province, Mohamed Bari, the meeting particularly emphasized the situation in the Foum Zguid Tissint basin, which includes several municipalities: Aloukoum, Agaygan, Ibn Yaacoub, Akinan, and Tilit.

The program aims to rehabilitate damaged infrastructure and enhance their resilience to climate change.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the progress made in various components of the program, including road rehabilitation, restoration of unclassified paths and rural trails, and support for the agricultural sector through the rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructure.

Additionally, the status of the reconstruction of houses that were either completely or partially destroyed was discussed, along with projects to rehabilitate and strengthen electricity and drinking water networks.

Attendees highlighted that these projects, which have seen significant progress, serve as a catalyst for restoring affected areas and improving the living conditions of residents. They noted that these initiatives also bolster the capacity to address future climate challenges, thereby contributing to the establishment of an integrated and sustainable territorial development strategy within the province.

The meeting was attended by elected officials, representatives from decentralized services, and civil society members, reflecting a participatory approach aimed at ensuring coordination, convergence, and alignment of interventions with local priorities.
