Reopening of Tétouan–Sania R’mel Airport Following Improved Weather Conditions

The National Office of Airports (ONDA) has announced the lifting of preventive closure measures and the reopening of Tétouan–Sania R’mel Airport as of Saturday, January 31, 2026, following improved weather conditions in the region.
A Decision Based on Technical Assessments
In an official statement, ONDA specified that this decision was made based on thorough technical assessments confirming that the required safety conditions had been restored. This operation was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, local authorities, and all concerned parties.
Preventive Closure Due to Severe Weather
The office recalled that the temporary closure of the runway was decided as a preventive measure due to exceptional weather conditions that affected the northern region of the Kingdom in recent days, temporarily impacting airport operations.
Ongoing Drainage and Monitoring Operations
According to the same source, technical teams conducted monitoring, drainage, and pumping operations, leading to a notable improvement in the situation. Water has been fully evacuated from the developed areas, while pumping operations continue to ensure maintaining safety and operational standards in the long term.
Infrastructure Ready to Resume Traffic
Finally, ONDA assured that all airport infrastructures are now operational, inviting travelers to contact their airlines for updates on the resumption and scheduling of flights.
