Interrogation of an Individual at Tangier Med for Firecracker and Fireworks Trafficking

National security and customs officials operating at the Tanger Med port successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,852 units of firecrackers and fireworks last Friday. An individual suspected of being involved in the trafficking of dangerous flammable products, posing a risk to people and property, was apprehended.

The suspect, a 42-year-old man, was arrested upon his arrival on a ferry from a European port. According to a security source, the inspection and search carried out inside the utility vehicle he was driving revealed 36 boxes containing a total of 1,852 units of firecrackers and fireworks.

The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation, overseen by the competent public prosecutor, to determine the circumstances of the case and any potential criminal ramifications.
