SRM Souss-Massa Strengthens Its Monitoring System in Response to Rainfall

Souss-Massa Regional Multi-Service Company Enhances Vigilance in Response to Rainfall Episodes

As part of its preventive strategy, the management of the Souss-Massa Regional Multi-Service Company (SRM-SM) has opted to strengthen its level of vigilance and mobilization to effectively address the rainfall episodes experienced across its operational zone. This initiative is being carried out in close coordination with local authorities and various stakeholders.

The SRM-SM oversees an extensive sanitation network that stretches over 4,000 kilometers and includes more than 175,000 ancillary structures, such as inspection chambers and storm drains. This infrastructure is further supported by approximately 140 storm overflow points and 71 pumping stations, highlighting the scope and complexity of the systems managed by the company.

The program implemented focuses on the continuous operation of cleaning and maintenance activities throughout the year, with significant reinforcement during the winter months. Special attention is given to sensitive areas and trouble spots that have experienced water accumulation during previous rainy seasons.

Operationally, the teams address all incidents, whether identified in the field by technical services or reported by citizens and institutional partners. This approach aims to ensure rapid and effective interventions to mitigate risks associated with flooding and stagnant rainwater.

Additionally, at the request of the competent authorities, SRM-SM also provides support to other entities for sites that do not fall directly under its jurisdiction, in the spirit of institutional solidarity. These interventions include assistance in certain public spaces and vital infrastructure, such as markets and major sports facilities.

From a logistical standpoint, a significant operational framework has been mobilized, including around thirty hydraulic trucks owned by SRM-SM, bolstered by additional resources from subcontracting companies, along with a variety of pumps designated for water pumping and evacuation operations.

In terms of human resources, nearly 120 SRM-SM agents have been deployed, supported by over 250 agents from subcontracting firms. These teams are organized into monitoring and operational standby units available 24 hours a day to ensure continuous service and immediate response capability.

Finally, the company has enhanced its communication and reporting systems through its customer relations center and digital channels, facilitating the tracking of complaints and the rapid handling of emergency situations.

SRM-SM emphasizes that this strategy is part of a proactive and ongoing coordination effort aimed at reducing the impact of rainfall, protecting populations, and preserving public and private property.

The Souss-Massa Regional Multi-Service Company also highlights the considerable efforts made by local authorities and all involved partners, stressing that facing climatic uncertainties is a collective responsibility that requires cooperation and mutual support.
