Morocco Reaches a Historic Milestone with Nearly 20 Million Tourists

Moroccan Tourism Sector Sees Historic Growth in 2025

The Moroccan tourism sector achieved historic performance in 2025, nearing 20 million visitors and solidifying the Kingdom’s status as one of the world’s most attractive destinations.

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, this growth represents an increase of approximately 14% compared to 2024 and a remarkable rise of over 50% compared to the pre-COVID era.

Tourism revenues also hit a record high, reaching about 138 billion dirhams in foreign currency—an impressive 21% increase from 2024 and a staggering 75% rise since 2019. These figures underscore a robust recovery and continuous growth within the sector.

This positive trajectory aligns with the national strategy aimed at enhancing Morocco’s appeal by focusing on diversifying the tourism offer, improving hospitality quality, and developing infrastructure and airline connections.

In a recent press conference following the government’s council, government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas emphasized that these achievements reflect the effectiveness of public policies implemented, particularly the tourism roadmap for 2023-2026.

The ambitious target set is to welcome 26 million tourists by 2030 and to position Morocco among the top 15 global tourist destinations. These results mark a significant milestone in reinforcing the tourism sector as a critical driver of growth, investment, and job creation in the country.
