Royal Air Maroc and Mauritania Airlines Sign Strategic Agreement in Casablanca
Royal Air Maroc and Mauritania Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a "free flow" code-sharing agreement on Friday in Casablanca, establishing a direct air route between Casablanca and Nouakchott.
This strategic agreement marks a first for both airlines and aims to enhance passenger experience by simplifying and streamlining their travels between Morocco and Mauritania. Travelers will benefit from a broader range of destinations, leveraging the respective networks of both airlines, thus making their journeys more comfortable and cohesive.
Hamid Addou, the CEO of Royal Air Maroc, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, highlighting that it will provide passengers from both airlines access to quality service and a wide selection of destinations. He also emphasized the importance of this agreement in strengthening ties between Morocco and Mauritania, while reinforcing the presence of both airlines on the African continent.
On his part, Ahmed Salem Mohamed Vall Ammi, the CEO of Mauritania Airlines, praised this major advancement in cooperation with Royal Air Maroc. He stressed the benefits of this agreement for passengers, who will enjoy increased connectivity to new destinations and greater flexibility in their travels.
The agreement includes a plan to increase the number of weekly flights on the Casablanca-Nouakchott route. Royal Air Maroc will boost its frequencies from seven to nine flights per week, while Mauritania Airlines will add three additional flights, raising its total to nine weekly services on this route.
Furthermore, the two airlines will extend their partnership to four new routes, providing Mauritania Airlines’ customers with connectivity options through the Casablanca hub, including flights to Madrid, Dubai, Paris, and Luanda.
This partnership extends beyond air transport to encompass collaborative efforts in various areas such as maintenance, ground handling, technical and managerial training, as well as digitalization and human resources.
This agreement marks a significant step toward improving air connectivity between Morocco and Mauritania, while strengthening South-South cooperation and offering passengers new international travel opportunities through the networks of both airlines.
