This announcement was made by the Secretary of State for Maritime Fisheries, Zakia Driouch, during the Board of Directors meeting of the National Agency for the Development of Aquaculture (ANDA) held in Rabat.
Over 240 Projects Supporting Sector Growth
According to data presented during the meeting, current aquaculture production capacity relies on more than 244 projects spread across various regions of the Kingdom.
This momentum aligns with the ongoing Halieutis strategy, which aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the fisheries sector while ensuring the sustainable exploitation of marine resources.
Sector officials believe that aquaculture is gradually becoming a crucial lever for diversifying seafood production, meeting food demand, and creating new job opportunities in coastal areas.
A Well-Structured Industry at Every Stage
The development of Moroccan aquaculture also relies on strengthening the entire production chain.
Upstream, investments in national hatcheries enhance the supply of aquaculture seeds, ensuring greater stability in production.
Downstream, the modernization of packaging, processing, and value-addition units contributes to improving the quality of products destined for both the national market and export, while increasing the value generated by the sector.
Measures to Encourage Investors
The Board of Directors of ANDA also commended various measures implemented to support professionals in the industry.
These initiatives include assisting project holders, supporting strategic inputs, simplifying investment procedures, and improving the business climate to encourage new investments in aquaculture.
International Cooperation Boosts Sector Development
The development of the aquaculture sector also benefits from several international partnerships.
ANDA collaborates with institutions such as the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to enhance technical capabilities, promote innovation, and mobilize new financing for the sector.
These partnerships contribute to accelerating the modernization of Moroccan aquaculture and improving its competitiveness in international markets.

From a financial perspective, the financial statements of the National Agency for the Development of Aquaculture for the 2025 fiscal year have been certified without reservation by the auditor.
