Marchica Med Strengthens Cooperation with Côte d’Ivoire on the Strategic Bay of Cocody Project
Strengthening Cooperation for Sustainable Development
During the Advisory Group’s Conference on Financing the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 for Côte d’Ivoire, Marchica Med reaffirmed its commitment to the rehabilitation and enhancement project of Cocody Bay, a significant area of cooperation between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.
On the sidelines of this economic meeting, Loubna Boutaleb, the CEO of Marchica Med, engaged in discussions with various public and private Ivorian officials to explore new cooperation opportunities within the framework of the projects outlined in the PND 2026-2030.
Strengthened Cooperation with Ivorian Authorities
Loubna Boutaleb notably met with Siandou Fofana, the Ivorian Minister of Tourism and Leisure, in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Othmane El Ferdaous.
The discussions primarily focused on the progress of the extensive Cocody Bay development project, which is regarded as a strong symbol of the strategic partnership between Rabat and Abidjan.
During this meeting, both parties praised the advancements made and agreed to develop a joint roadmap to ensure the enhancement of existing infrastructures and the sustainable management of the site.
Over 90% of Phase One Completed
According to project officials, the first phase of the works now boasts a completion rate exceeding 90%.
This phase includes ecological rehabilitation of the bay and the construction of key infrastructures aimed at revitalizing this emblematic site of the Ivorian economic capital.
A Major Project Launched Following the Royal Visit
The transformation project of Cocody Bay was initiated following the official visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Côte d’Ivoire in 2015.
It aims to develop this area into a new urban, tourist, and economic hub through a comprehensive program that includes:
- ecological restoration of the bay;
- the construction of hydraulic and maritime works;
- road infrastructure;
- the development of a marina;
- the creation of an urban park;
- recreational areas;
- as well as spaces designated for residential and tourism projects.
Ultimately, Cocody Bay is expected to become one of the main drivers of urban development in Abidjan.
Moroccan Expertise for African Development
Through its subsidiary, Marchica Med Africa, the Moroccan group is leveraging the expertise gained during the development of the Marchica Lagoon in Nador.
Its intervention employs an integrated approach that combines environmental restoration, urban planning, infrastructure, tourism development, and territorial enhancement, involving Moroccan consulting firms and companies in collaboration with their Ivorian partners.
Marchica Med Confirms Its African Ambition
By participating in the PND 2026-2030 Conference, Marchica Med reaffirms its desire to support large-scale territorial development projects across the African continent.
The group intends to continue its commitment to implementing sustainable projects while strengthening economic cooperation between Morocco and various African countries.
