Morocco Advances High-Speed Rail Project Between Kénitra and Marrakech
The extension project of the high-speed rail line (LGV) between Kénitra and Marrakech has reached a new milestone. The National Office of Railways (ONCF) has issued an open call for bids for the installation and commissioning of elevators and escalators at several stations and technical centers, with a total investment of approximately 180 million dirhams (excluding taxes).
This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and improve the flow of passenger movement within the new railway infrastructures, aligning with high-speed rail standards and quality service requirements.
The contract is divided into four lots. The first, with an estimated cost of around 46 million dirhams, focuses on equipping the stations at the Grand Stade Hassan II and Mohammed V Airport. The second lot pertains to the stations at Casablanca Sud and Marrakech-Guéliz, amounting to nearly 44 million dirhams.
The third lot, valued at 36 million dirhams, includes the installation of equipment at stations in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra area, as well as in several technical centers and stations in the Marrakech region. The fourth lot, with a budget of approximately 54 million dirhams, is aimed at completing the equipment at stations in the Casablanca region.
The opening of bids is scheduled for September 3, 2026, after which the contract will be awarded and construction will commence. This effort is part of the overall timeline for the LGV Kénitra-Marrakech, one of the key railway infrastructure projects in the Kingdom.
