Casablanca: A 14 Million Dirham Assessment for the Road Network

The municipality of Casablanca has launched a comprehensive initiative to assess its road network. The aim is to create an accurate overview of the city’s infrastructure to better plan maintenance, rehabilitation, and modernization projects.
The contract, valued at 13.992 million dirhams inclusive of taxes, has been awarded to the Council for Engineering and Development (CID) following the tendering process initiated by the municipality.
A Complete Mapping of Road Conditions
The study aims to establish a detailed map of the various road infrastructures in Casablanca. It will focus on identifying major deterioration, analyzing their severity level, and prioritizing necessary interventions.
To centralize this information, the system will include the creation of an integrated database within a geographic information system (GIS).
This tool is intended to provide a structured view of the city’s road assets and monitor their evolution over time. The collected data will also aid in better preparing maintenance and rehabilitation operations.
A Tool for Planning Investments
The significance of this study extends beyond mere technical diagnostics. The municipality aims to have a genuine decision-support tool that enables programming interventions based on the needs identified on the ground.
The database will specifically facilitate the creation of an annual and multi-year work schedule. This approach will allow the prioritization of operations based on the condition of the infrastructures and align investments with identified priorities.
As a result, the municipality will be able to better anticipate rehabilitation needs and maintain a more structured oversight of the work carried out on the network.
CID Selected After Bid Evaluation
The awarding procedure was initiated by the municipality of Casablanca, with the opening of bids taking place on August 13, 2026.
After evaluating the various proposals received, the bid evaluation committee completed its work on September 18, 2026. The offer submitted by CID was ultimately selected for conducting this study.
The total value of the contract amounts to 13.992 million dirhams, all taxes included.
Casablanca Leverages Data to Manage Its Network
Through this initiative, the metropolis aims to enhance its understanding of its road assets and evolve infrastructure management towards a more data-driven approach.
The implementation of the GIS will allow for the cross-referencing of technical, geographic, and historical information relating to the infrastructures to guide maintenance and investment decisions.
For a city facing substantial urban growth and increasing mobility demands, having an updated assessment of the network is crucial for anticipating deterioration and organizing interventions.
In the long run, the diagnosis carried out by CID is intended to provide the municipality with a working base to better plan road investments, optimize resources allocated to maintenance, and ensure a more effective monitoring of the evolution of Casablanca’s road network.
