On Sunday, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided over the 17th edition of the International Mohammed VI Athletics Meeting, held at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. This event is a key stop on the global Diamond League circuit and a prominent fixture in the World Athletics calendar.

Organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this edition highlights the ongoing commitment to the development of sports in Morocco, viewed as a vital tool for social inclusion, youth development, and the promotion of values such as perseverance and fair play.

Upon his arrival at the stadium, HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan reviewed a section of the Royal Guard before being greeted by various government and institutional officials, as well as leaders from the national and international sports sectors. He then attended the performance of the national anthem and the official launch of the competition.

The Mohammed VI Athletics Meeting attracts some of the world’s best athletes each year and is the only Diamond League event held on the African continent. This event enhances Morocco’s international visibility and showcases Rabat as a major cultural and sporting capital.

Over the years, this sporting gathering has established itself as a top-tier competition, characterized by numerous record-breaking performances that affirm Morocco’s place in the global athletics elite.

As part of the Diamond League circuit, the Rabat meeting is one of 15 international stops that span Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States, culminating in a final event scheduled for Brussels in September 2026.
