Dakhla Atlantic Port: Construction Progress Reaches 65%

Progress of the New Dakhla Atlantic Port Project
The new Dakhla Atlantic Port project continues to make significant strides as part of Morocco’s major infrastructure initiatives aimed at enhancing the country’s maritime and logistical capabilities. As of the end of July 2026, the construction progress has reached a solid 65%.
This ambitious project aims to bolster Dakhla’s position as an economic and logistical hub by establishing a port infrastructure capable of facilitating commercial exchanges and strengthening Morocco’s connections with African markets, particularly in West Africa.
Several key components of the future port are currently underway. These include a 1,330-meter marine access bridge and maritime protection structures totaling approximately 7.5 kilometers in length, designed to safeguard the port facilities against maritime conditions.
Additionally, the project plans to construct several docks, with a combined length exceeding 2,300 meters and a depth that can reach up to 18 meters. These characteristics will enable the port to accommodate large commercial vessels and enhance its capacity to handle various maritime traffic.
The future port complex will also stand out for its diverse functions. It will feature three basins dedicated to a range of activities, including commerce, deep-sea fishing, as well as industrial operations and ship repair.
Moreover, the construction involves significant dredging operations in the channels and marine areas, along with the development of zones designated for logistical and industrial activities. These areas are intended to create a favorable environment for the establishment of new economic projects linked to the port.
Beyond the creation of new maritime infrastructure, the project aims to establish an integrated ecosystem that combines maritime transport, logistics, and industrial activities. The objective is to enhance the region’s appeal for investment and support exchanges with African markets.
With a progress rate of 65%, the Dakhla Atlantic Port project has now entered an advanced phase of construction. Ultimately, this infrastructure is expected to become a pivotal lever for the development of port and logistical capacities in the southern provinces of the Kingdom.
