Hello 2026: High Turnout at Tangier Med Port for the Return of Moroccans Living Abroad

Tanger Med Port Experiences Surge in Traffic Amid Marhaba 2026 Operation
Tanger Med Port is currently witnessing a significant influx of travelers as the second phase of the Marhaba 2026 operation, dedicated to the return of Moroccans living abroad to their countries of residence, is underway. Despite the increase in traffic, operations are proceeding smoothly overall.
The Firm Ticket System Streamlines Departures
For the second consecutive year, the operation relies on the "firm ticket" system, which helps to better organize the flow of travelers and prevent excessive crowding at the port. Authorities foresee a further rise in attendance in the coming days as many Moroccans residing abroad prepare to return to their home countries after their summer stays in Morocco.
Travelers are strongly encouraged to double-check the date and time on their tickets before heading to Tanger Med. Those holding open or undated tickets are advised to contact their shipping companies to regularize their bookings.
Anticipated Peak Traffic Between August 25 and 29
Authorities also recommend that travelers, if possible, avoid the period from August 25 to 29, when traffic levels are expected to be at their highest during this return phase of the Marhaba 2026 operation. This surge in attendance may lead to increased wait times before boarding. As such, travelers are encouraged to plan their departures ahead of time and make any necessary reservation changes before arriving at the port.
Modification options are available at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity rest area, located at the entrance of Tangier, as well as at the Aïn Chouka station in Ksar Sghir.
Changes Subject to Availability
Ticket changes, however, remain subject to available spaces on board the vessels and the capacity of the fleet mobilized for the Marhaba 2026 operation.
With the gradual return of thousands of Moroccans living abroad, the upcoming period is particularly critical for the port’s operational system. Prior verification of tickets and proactive reservation planning should facilitate smoother travel and reduce waiting times at Tanger Med Port.
