LEONI Cable Solutions Strengthens Industrial Presence in Morocco
The German group LEONI Cable Solutions is enhancing its industrial footprint in Morocco with the launch of its first production unit on the African continent. The company has officially laid the foundation stone for its new industrial site within the Atlantic Free Zone of Kenitra, a strategic project mobilizing an investment of 630 million dirhams, approximately 60 million euros.
This establishment underscores Morocco’s growing appeal as a reference industrial hub for the global automotive industry.
A Factory Dedicated to Next-Generation Vehicles
The upcoming industrial unit will specialize in the manufacturing of single-core and multi-core automotive cables, as well as data transmission cables intended for connected and smart vehicles.
These components will equip leading international automakers and suppliers, at a time when the demand for connectivity, automation, and data management within the automotive sector continues to rise.
Morocco Solidifies its Position in the Automotive Sector
According to Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Trade, this project is fully aligned with the Kingdom’s strategy to develop a high-tech value-added industry.
The arrival of LEONI Cable Solutions in Kenitra illustrates Morocco’s capability to attract cutting-edge industrial investments and support transformations related to the future of mobility, particularly in the realms of connected and electric vehicles.
Knowledge Transfer for Local Skill Development
The project also includes the establishment of a structured skills transfer program, spearheaded by teams from the group in Germany and Turkey.
This initiative will enable Moroccan teams to gradually master the technologies, industrial processes, and quality standards needed for the production of high-value-added automotive components.
The goal is to bolster local expertise while supporting the growth of the industrial site.

The new factory will feature an integrated laboratory specializing in the quality control of materials and manufactured products.
