Morocco Becomes the World’s Third Largest Exporter of Tomatoes, Accounting for 11% of Global Exports

Morocco has confirmed its position among the world’s leaders in tomato exports. According to a recent report from Morocco Foodex, the Kingdom now ranks third worldwide, having exported nearly 1.3 million tons, which represents about 11% of global tomato exports.

This achievement comes amidst a context of strong growth in the international market. The report forecasts a projected increase of approximately 20% in global tomato trade between 2025 and 2029, driven by rising demand in several key markets, thereby creating new opportunities for leading exporting countries.

The document also highlights that Morocco has shown the strongest growth among the top ten global exporters. Moroccan exports have grown by 11%, a pace that surpasses several major competitors, including Mexico and the Netherlands, which are key players in the international market.

This momentum reflects the strengthening competitiveness of Morocco’s agricultural sector, supported by improvements in product quality, modernization of export chains, and the opening of new commercial avenues.

With this development, Morocco is solidifying its standing as an essential supplier of tomatoes in international markets and reinforcing its role in high-value agricultural exports.
