Talisman Metals Reveals Copper and Silver Grades at Tirzzit

Talisman Metals Reveals First Drill Results from Tirzzit Copper-Silver Project
Mining company Talisman Metals announced on October 21, 2026, the first results from four drill holes at its Tirzzit copper and silver project, located approximately 225 kilometers east of Agadir. Notably, one of the drill holes uncovered a two-meter intersection grading 1.56% copper and 64 grams of silver per ton, starting at a depth of eight meters. These initial results confirm the presence of mineralization within the studied formations, although they do not yet allow for an assessment of the economic potential of the deposit.
Copper and Silver Grades Identified in Four Drill Holes
The initial results communicated by Talisman Metals pertain to four drill holes executed in the Upper Precambrian sedimentary formations. Drill hole TRC01 intersected two meters of mineralization with a copper grade of 1.56% and 64 grams of silver per ton, beginning at a depth of eight meters.
The other three drill holes also encountered copper, yielding varying grades and thicknesses. Drill hole TRC02 intersected ten meters averaging 0.31% copper, with a notable section of one meter at 2.08% between eleven and twelve meters deep.
Drill hole TRC03 showed four meters at 0.18% copper and six grams of silver per ton, at a depth of between 51 and 55 meters. Meanwhile, drill hole TRC04 encountered five meters at 0.31% copper and seven grams of silver per ton, between 83 and 88 meters, including one meter with a grade of 1.05% copper and 19 grams of silver per ton.
These results constitute an initial verification of the previously identified mineralized indicators found at the surface. They provide additional insights to guide future exploration phases but are currently insufficient to establish the existence of economically exploitable mineral resources.
Talisman Envisions New Mineralized Zones
According to Tim McCutcheon, CEO of Talisman Metals, the obtained results confirm both the existence and location of sedimentary layers containing copper. The company believes that further drilling could help identify thicker mineralized zones within the folds of the studied geological formations.
This hypothesis is based on the characteristics of comparable deposits in the region. However, it will require confirmation through additional drilling and analyses of the continuity of the mineralization.
The current drilling campaign employs reverse circulation drilling methods, which utilize compressed air to bring rock fragments to the surface. Samples were taken at one-meter intervals and sent to Labomine for analysis.
The geometry of the formations is also a crucial factor in interpreting the results. With vertical drilling and relatively shallowly inclined layers, Talisman estimates that the true thickness of the mineralized zones could represent between 90% and 100% of the lengths measured in the drill holes. However, this estimation is contingent upon the observed geological characteristics and does not alone determine the lateral extent or volume of the mineralization.
Exploration Area Expands to 63.5 km²
The initial Tirzzit project covers 16.5 square kilometers across two mining titles. Talisman Metals announced the acquisition of these titles on February 16, 2026, from a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian group Aya Gold & Silver, which also holds a 4.7% stake in Talisman.
At the time the latest results were published, the administrative transfer of these two titles was still underway, despite the completed transfer agreement between the parties.
In September, the exploration area expanded with the acquisition of three adjacent permits covering an additional 47 square kilometers. Granted by the mining services of Agadir, these permits are referenced as 3942912, 3942913, and 3942914 and are valid until July 24, 2029.
With these new permits, the total area of the affected zones reaches 63.5 square kilometers, enabling the company to examine other sedimentary formations that may host copper and silver mineralization.
Proximity to Tizert, a Geological Landmark
The lands explored at Tirzzit belong to a geological structure comparable to that hosting the copper and silver mine at Tizert, located approximately 85 kilometers southwest of the project.
This proximity is a significant factor for the exploration efforts, but it does not imply the presence of equivalent resources at Tirzzit. The site’s potential must be assessed based on project-specific data.
Talisman plans to continue geological surveys, rock sampling, and geophysical studies. The intended work includes electromagnetic and induced polarization measurements aimed at identifying anomalies that could indicate the presence of mineralization at depth.
Historical data also provide indications of areas to explore. Between 1972 and 1976, the Bureau of Research and Mining Participation reported intersections reaching 3.16% copper over 2.5 meters and 0.6% over 11.4 meters.
However, Talisman emphasizes that these old results have not been sufficiently verified according to current mineral resource reporting standards. Therefore, they serve as historical references to guide exploration rather than as a basis for establishing certified reserves.
New Analyses Expected in Q4 2026
Talisman Metals anticipates completing work on the selected targets within four to six weeks and announces further analyses in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The technical data has been reviewed and validated by independent geologist Michael Dufresne, in accordance with publishing requirements for mining companies listed in London.
Upcoming campaigns will aim to clarify the continuity, extent, and potential of the mineralized zones. At this stage, the initial results from Tirzzit represent a significant advancement in the geological understanding of the project, but several exploration steps remain necessary before determining its possible economic value.
