Visit to the Ourir Station of SRM Souss Massa: 30 beneficiaries of the “CESAR 2” program in a field immersion.

As part of the final phase of the “CESAR 2” program, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), initiatives aimed at supporting green entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development continue in the Souss Massa region.
This program aims to assist freelancers, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as cooperatives operating in the water, sanitation, and related sectors, by enhancing their technical and managerial capacities and facilitating their access to new economic opportunities.
SRM Souss Massa organized a field visit to the Ourir wastewater treatment plant, located north of Agadir, for the benefit of 30 beneficiaries of the program.

This plant is an essential infrastructure for the region, with a treatment capacity of several thousand cubic meters of wastewater per day. Treated water is partially reused, notably for irrigation of green spaces and certain agricultural uses, thereby contributing to a more efficient management of water resources.
During this visit, the company’s officials provided detailed technical explanations of the various stages of treatment, including:
- pre-treatment to remove solid waste,
- biological treatment to reduce organic load,
- and filtration and disinfection to guarantee the quality of the treated water.
Speakers also highlighted the strategic role of this plant in:
- protecting groundwater resources,
- reducing environmental impacts,
- and improving sanitary conditions for thousands of residents.
This visit is part of a series of practical activities planned by the “CESAR 2” program, aimed at bridging the gap between beneficiaries and the field, offering them a better understanding of existing opportunities in areas such as wastewater reuse, environmental services, and innovative sanitation solutions.

Furthermore, the actions of SRM Souss Massa align with a national focus on environmental sustainability, particularly in a context marked by water stress, where the valorization of treated wastewater is becoming a strategic alternative.
Ultimately, this initiative illustrates the importance of partnerships between international institutional actors and local operators to promote a green economy, support innovation, and foster the creation of sustainable jobs in the Souss Massa region.
