WATEC Highlights Morocco’s Water Challenges

The third edition of the annual WATEC seminar took place on October 28, 2026, in Bouznika, gathering experts, public operators, industry stakeholders, and national and international technology partners to discuss solutions to Morocco’s water challenges. Organized under the theme “Water Facing Tomorrow’s Challenges,” this meeting emphasized resource diversification, energy cost management, strengthening local industrial capacities, and sustainable facility performance.
Following two previous editions focused on desalination challenges in 2024 and technological advancements in the field in 2025, WATEC expanded the discussions this year to encompass all solutions that could contribute to the Kingdom’s water security.
According to Mohamed Amine, founder and CEO of WATEC, the challenge now lies not only in mobilizing new water resources but also in developing the skills and capacities necessary for sustainable utilization. He believes this involves mastering technologies, adapting them to local realities, and enhancing national industrial expertise. He emphasized that this approach has guided the company for nearly forty years, and the seminar aims to promote dialogue among experts, share technological advancements, and foster development across the entire sector.
In light of the evolving water needs, responses must leverage the complementarity of several solutions, including desalination, demineralization, purification, waste water reuse, and pumping. Their implementation should address the specific characteristics of each region, its uses, and operational conditions to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the installations.
Founded in 1987, WATEC is a Moroccan company specializing in water-related professions. It designs, integrates, and implements solutions for territories, institutions, and industries, particularly in the fields of desalination, demineralization, purification, and pumping.
Its integrated model covers several stages, from engineering and technology integration to the realization and commissioning of facilities. These activities are complemented by maintenance and monitoring services as per contracts concluded with its clients.
With nearly forty years of experience and expertise developed by Moroccan talent, WATEC aims to contribute to strengthening national capacities and developing industrial skills in the water sector.
