Weather in Morocco: Persisting Heat and Localized Thunderstorm Risks on Friday, June 12

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts warm weather for Friday, June 12, in the southeast of Morocco as well as in the eastern and southern Saharan provinces. Relatively high temperatures are also expected in the Saïss, Gharb, Oulmès, southern Oriental regions, the interior of Souss, and the plains located west of the Atlas Mountains.

Coastal Fog and Thunderstorms in the East

Low and relatively dense clouds are expected to form along the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean shores. These clouds may be accompanied by patches of fog and local light rain.

Additionally, cloud developments are anticipated in the Oriental region, where scattered and occasionally thunderous showers could occur throughout the day.

Strong Wind Gusts and Dust Uplifts in Several Regions

The national meteorology service also predicts fairly strong wind gusts in the Tanger region, the Mediterranean coastline, the Oriental, the southeast of the Kingdom, and in the southern provinces. These winds could locally cause dust uplift.

Temperatures: Decrease in the West, Stability Elsewhere

Minimum temperatures will range between 11 and 17°C in the mountainous areas of the Atlas. They will fluctuate between 20 and 25°C in the southern Oriental, the southeastern regions, the Saharan provinces, and the interior of Gharb. In the rest of the Kingdom, minimum temperatures will be between 15 and 20°C.

As for maximum temperatures, a slight decrease is expected in Loukkos, Gharb, and Saïss, while they will generally remain stable or see a slight increase in other regions.

Rough Seas along Several Coasts

Sea conditions will be rough in the Mediterranean and the Strait of Gibraltar. It will be moderately to rough along the entire Atlantic coast, becoming locally rough to strong north of Larache.
