Weather in Morocco: A Heat Wave Expected from Wednesday to Friday in Several Regions

A heatwave will affect several regions of Morocco starting Wednesday and lasting until Friday, according to a weather alert bulletin.

This event is part of a series of thermal disturbances marked by a significant increase in temperatures across various areas of the Kingdom.

Temperatures Reaching Up to 42°C

According to weather forecasts, temperatures are expected to range between 37°C and 42°C in several provinces of the country, with spikes varying by specific inland and central regions.

Certain areas will also experience hot weather exceeding seasonal norms, particularly in the plains and central and southern regions.

Affected Regions

This heatwave is predicted to impact a wide range of provinces, including:

  • Fez, Meknes, and surrounding areas
  • Beni Mellal and Khouribga
  • Marrakech, Rehamna, and Chichaoua
  • Settat, Youssoufia, and El Kelaâ des Sraghna
  • Several areas in the North and Center of the Kingdom

A Phenomenon Linked to a Saharan Warm Air Mass

This rise in temperatures is attributed to the arrival of a warm, dry air mass from the Sahara, facilitated by anticyclonic conditions.

This type of weather situation is common in Morocco, especially during the spring and summer months, and leads to episodes of intense heat lasting several days.

A Call for Vigilance

Weather authorities advise caution, particularly for vulnerable individuals (children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses) as well as for workers exposed to the sun.

It is recommended to:

  • Stay hydrated regularly
  • Avoid direct sun exposure during the hottest hours
  • Limit outdoor physical effort

An Increasingly Frequent Trend

Heatwave episodes have become more recurrent in recent years, within a global context of rising temperatures.

Morocco, like other countries in the Mediterranean region, is particularly vulnerable to these extreme climatic phenomena.

This new heatwave confirms the persistence of early or intense summer weather conditions in several regions of the Kingdom, calling for increased vigilance and the adoption of suitable preventive measures.
