Security Cooperation: Abdellatif Hammouchi Welcomes the Chief of Spanish Civil Guard Intelligence in Rabat

Abdellatif Hammouchi, the General Director of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, welcomed General Luis Peláez Piñeiro, head of the intelligence service of the Spanish Civil Guard, in Rabat. This visit was part of a high-level security delegation from Spain coming to Morocco for work purposes.
The meeting aims to strengthen security cooperation between Morocco and Spain, particularly in the areas of counter-terrorism, organized crime, and cross-border threats.
A Strategic Security Partnership
According to a statement from the DGSN-DGST, this visit reflects the level of trust achieved between Moroccan security services and their Spanish counterparts. The two parties have established close cooperation in several areas, including intelligence sharing, technical assistance, and joint operations against international criminal networks.
Officials also discussed the security challenges both countries face in a regional context marked by evolving terrorist threats and transnational criminal activities.
Spanish Honors for Moroccan Officials
The meeting featured a ceremony during which several officials from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) were awarded Spanish decorations.
Granted by a decree from the Spanish Minister of the Interior, these awards recognize their contributions to enhancing operational cooperation and technical assistance between the security services of both countries.
Morocco: A Key Partner in Regional Security
On this occasion, General Luis Peláez Piñeiro praised the quality of Moroccan-Spanish security cooperation, describing the Kingdom as an indispensable strategic partner in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
This recognition, according to authorities from both countries, underscores the strength of the relationships between Moroccan and Spanish security services and their coordination in addressing common challenges, especially in the Mediterranean region.
These new honors come just months after Abdellatif Hammouchi received the Grand Cross of the Civil Guard Merit in Spain, one of the highest decorations awarded by this institution, in recognition of his commitment to enhancing security cooperation between Morocco and Spain.
