Moroccan National Tourist Office Receives Award for Best Tourist Destination Partner 2025
The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) was honored with the award for "Best Tourist Destination Partner 2025" during the annual convention of the Welcome Travel Group (WTG), held on April 5 and 6 in Casablanca. This awards ceremony marked a significant milestone for Moroccan tourism in the Italian market, with ONMT’s General Director, Achraf Fayda, receiving the accolade from the WTG’s president.
This award recognizes the high quality of the Moroccan tourist offerings and ONMT’s continuous commitment to excellence, highlighting the strong partnership between Morocco and one of Italy’s largest tourism operators. It also represents a strategic turning point in strengthening Morocco’s relationships with key Italian distribution networks.
With over 1,500 participants, the WTG conference brought together the most influential players in Italian tourism, including agency leaders, tour operators, airlines, and companies specializing in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions/Events). The event not only enhanced Morocco’s visibility and image but also opened new commercial opportunities.
The media coverage from this event was extensive, featuring twelve trade publications alongside numerous mainstream media outlets. Social media shares further amplified the event’s impact.
This gathering provided a unique opportunity to showcase Morocco’s tourism assets, particularly to agencies that have yet to include the destination in their offerings. It also aimed to strengthen the Kingdom’s presence in the catalogs of Italian tour operators and position Morocco as a reference destination for MICE events in the Mediterranean.
It’s worth noting that Welcome Travel Group is Italy’s leading player in tourism distribution, with a network of 2,492 agencies nationwide. Controlled by Alpitour World and Costa Cruise, the group represents 44% of the travel agency market in Italy.
