MKU is preparing a defense factory in Nouaceur for Africa.

Indian Group MKU to Establish Industrial Unit in Morocco
The Indian group MKU, known for its specialization in ballistic protection equipment and military optronics technologies, is preparing to set up an industrial unit within the Nouaceur SGZID. This project represents a significant step in the development of industrial relations between Morocco and India, with the ambition of making the Kingdom a production and export hub for African markets.
Five Years of Cooperation with the Royal Armed Forces
MKU’s industrial arrival in Morocco follows several years of collaboration with the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). The Indian group already provides various protective equipment to the Moroccan forces, including high-tech combat helmets that can be integrated with communication and night vision systems.
With this new establishment, MKU aims to move beyond the existing commercial relationship and establish a sustainable industrial partnership in Morocco.
The goal is to locally develop production capabilities in technological fields related to personnel protection and systems intended for surveillance and operational situational awareness.
Two Main Product Lines to be Produced in Nouaceur
The upcoming unit will focus on two main product lines developed by the Indian group.
The first, Netro Optronics, encompasses multi-sensor electro-optical systems intended primarily for surveillance, reconnaissance, situational awareness, and target acquisition.
The second, Kavro Protection, includes ballistic protection equipment such as bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets, shields, and various armor solutions intended for platforms.
This direction reflects MKU’s commitment to develop an industrial activity in Morocco that spans several segments of security and defense.
Morocco as a Platform for African Markets
The establishment in Nouaceur is not solely intended to meet the demands of the Moroccan market. MKU also aims to leverage the Kingdom as a production and export base for Africa.
Morocco’s geographic location, its industrial infrastructure, and its connections with various African markets represent, for the Indian group, advantages likely to facilitate the development of this regional strategy.
Thus, the project could strengthen Morocco’s role as an industrial platform for international companies seeking access to the continent’s markets.
Developing Industrial Competencies in Morocco
Beyond production, MKU’s establishment is expected to promote the transfer of know-how and technical skills. The group envisions the creation of qualified jobs aimed at engineers, technicians, and various specialized profiles in the manufacturing industry.
For Morocco, the challenge also lies in developing local competencies in industrial sectors with a strong technological component.
This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s ambition to progressively enhance its industrial capabilities in the defense sector and foster the emergence of an ecosystem capable of locally producing certain equipment while developing their export potential.
Several Project Details Still to be Clarified
At this stage, several aspects of the project remain to be communicated, including the production capacity of the future unit, the precise timeline for its commissioning, the amount of investment, and specifics related to its establishment within the Nouaceur SGZID.
Nonetheless, the displayed ambition remains clear: to make Nouaceur a crucial industrial anchor for MKU in the African market, while also bolstering technological capacities, specialized skills, and industrial value added within Morocco’s defense sector.
