Royal Air Maroc Digitizes Its Operations with Thales

Royal Air Maroc Accelerates Digital Transformation of its Air Operations

The national airline of Morocco, Royal Air Maroc, has signed a five-year contract with the French technology group Thales to equip its pilots with the AvioBook Flight solution, a digital tool designed to facilitate the preparation, monitoring, and management of flights.

Announced on October 12, 2026, in Marrakech, this agreement is part of the company’s strategic development plan, which aims to expand its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037. The initiative is expected to modernize operational procedures, improve coordination between crews and ground teams, and support the airline’s growing activity.

AvioBook Flight: A Digital Tool for Pilots

Developed by AvioBook, a subsidiary of Thales, the solution falls into the category of electronic flight bags, commonly known as Electronic Flight Bags (EFB). These devices enable pilots to access essential information for their missions and perform various operational tasks using digital tools.

The platform covers all major stages of a flight, from pre-departure preparations to post-landing operations. Its integration with Royal Air Maroc’s information systems will also facilitate the sharing of information among various departments involved in the operation of the aircraft.

With this solution, the airline aims to streamline crew workflows and enhance the daily management of air operations.

Reducing Ground Time and Controlling Fuel Consumption

One of the goals of this partnership is to optimize the use of aircraft and operational resources. Royal Air Maroc specifically seeks to reduce the downtime of aircraft between flights while facilitating the organization of various interventions required for their operation.

Controlling fuel consumption is another priority of the project. Improved flight preparation and more efficient operational organization can help minimize certain expenses and enhance the environmental performance of the carrier.

Additionally, the solution includes features aimed at reinforcing operational safety and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Mechanisms for continuity and technological resilience are also planned to maintain access to vital information for the crews.

A Partnership that Supports Fleet Expansion

The choice of AvioBook Flight comes as Royal Air Maroc prepares for a significant increase in its capabilities. The target of 200 aircraft by 2037 necessitates a gradual adaptation of digital tools and methods for managing air operations.

For the airline, digitalization represents a lever to support its growth by facilitating information flow and team coordination within an operational environment that is expected to become increasingly complex.

Frédéric Dru, CEO of AvioBook, frames this agreement within the dynamic of development and digital transformation at Royal Air Maroc. He emphasizes his company’s commitment to contributing to the evolution of the Moroccan carrier’s operations through its technological solutions.

AvioBook has over a decade of experience in the aviation sector, providing its digital tools to 70 airlines worldwide.

Thales Strengthens Cooperation with Royal Air Maroc

This new contract builds upon the established collaboration between Royal Air Maroc and Thales. The two groups are already working together in areas such as in-flight entertainment, aerospace maintenance, and cybersecurity.

Thales has been present in Morocco for over forty years, with a headquarters in Rabat, a T3DM factory, and a cybersecurity center in Casablanca. The group operates across several strategic sectors, including civil aviation, defense, and public security.

Yan Levy, CEO of Thales in Morocco, views this partnership as a new milestone in supporting the aviation ambitions of the Kingdom. The group aims to continue its contribution to the digital modernization of Moroccan air transport and the evolution of its operational capabilities.

An Announcement Following the Marrakech Airshow 2026

The signing of this agreement comes after the Marrakech Airshow 2026, held from October 7 to 10 at the Royal Air Forces Base. During this event, Thales showcased various technologies aimed at civil aviation, defense, and digital activities, while continuing its discussions with stakeholders in the Moroccan aerospace industry.

With this five-year contract, Royal Air Maroc takes a significant step forward in modernizing its flight management tools. The deployment of AvioBook Flight is expected to accompany the evolution of its fleet, enhance the coordination of daily operations, and support the airline’s growth ambitions through 2037.
