Alert Bulletin: Heavy Thunderstorms, Snowfall, and High Winds in Several Regions of the Kingdom
The General Directorate of Meteorology is forecasting unstable and sometimes dangerous weather conditions for Saturday and Sunday, affecting several regions across the Kingdom. This orange alert bulletin predicts heavy thunderstorms, snowfall, and high winds accompanied by dust storms.
Thunderstorms Accompanied by Hail
Locally strong thunderstorms with hail are expected, accumulating between 30 and 40 mm of precipitation. The affected provinces include Ouezzane, Chefchaouen, Jerada, Figuig, Guercif, Taourirt, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Boulemane, Fès, and Taza. These disturbances are forecasted from Saturday at 10:15 AM until Sunday at 10:00 AM.
Snowfall in the Mountains
Snowfall is also anticipated in mountainous areas above 1,800 meters, with accumulations ranging from 10 to 20 cm. The provinces affected include Midelt, Khénifra, Ifrane, Béni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Boulemane, Guercif, Taza, and Sefrou, throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Strong Winds and Dust
Additionally, locally strong to violent winds, with speeds ranging from 75 to 90 km/h, are expected in several provinces, including Figuig, Jerada, Taourirt, Guercif, Taza, and Boulemane. These winds will blow from midnight on Sunday until 9 PM, with a risk of dust storms.
The authorities recommend that citizens exercise caution and vigilance, particularly in the affected areas, and to follow the safety guidelines issued by the competent services.
