Casablanca Smart City 2026 Celebrates 10 Years of Urban Innovation and Opens a New Era with the “Augmented Smart City”
Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, Casablanca will host the 10th edition of Casablanca Smart City on June 10 and 11, 2026. This event has become a key gathering for urban innovation in Morocco and Africa.
Organized by Casablanca Events & Animation, this anniversary event will celebrate a decade of commitment to fostering a smarter, more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient metropolis.
Themed “Augmented Smart City: 10 Years of Urban Animation in Culture, Sports, and Economy”, this 2026 edition aims to take a new step in the discourse around the city of the future. Through this new paradigm, Casablanca promotes a vision of urban transformation where artificial intelligence, digital twins, and emerging technologies enhance human intelligence, citizen participation, and quality of life.
For two days, the iconic Sacré-Cœur site will welcome public decision-makers, international experts, startups, researchers, urban planners, investors, community actors, and citizens. The program will be rich, featuring conferences, plenary sessions, workshops, exhibition spaces, a startup village, and a hackathon.
Ten Years of an Evolving Urban Ecosystem
Since its launch in 2016, Casablanca Smart City has established itself as one of Africa’s leading platforms dedicated to urban intelligence and territorial innovation. Over ten editions, the event has gathered more than 42,000 participants, 685 exhibitors, 661 speakers, and delegations from 181 cities worldwide. Over the years, Casablanca has strengthened its position as a laboratory for frugal and inclusive urban innovation, supporting the metropolis’s major transformations: smart mobility, digital governance, territorial animation, social inclusion, ecological transition, and the development of the entrepreneurial and digital ecosystem.
This momentum is also framed within a strategic context bolstered by the Kingdom’s hosting of major international sports events, including the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and ongoing preparations for the 2030 World Cup. These milestones are powerful levers to accelerate urban modernization and enhance Casablanca’s international profile.
The “Augmented Smart City,” a Human-Centric New Model
For this anniversary edition, Casablanca Smart City invites exploration of a new vision of a smart city: an augmented city that can blend technological innovation, resource sustainability, collective creativity, and social inclusion.
The “Augmented Smart City” is built on a strong conviction: technology is not an end in itself but a tool for the well-being of citizens, the effectiveness of public policies, and the resilience of communities.
The 2026 edition will revolve around four key themes: Digital Innovation & Youth; Innovation & Economic Dynamism; Culture & Sports as Urban Transformation Levers; and Mobility & Quality of Life.
A Program Focused on Action and Collective Intelligence
This 10th edition’s program will place significant emphasis on new generations, particularly through the Smart City Hackathon, startup pitches, and several spaces dedicated to citizen innovation. Discussions will focus on issues related to digital inclusion, sustainable mobility, smart governance, sports technology, circular economy, citizen participation, and the valorization of public spaces and urban heritage. True to its DNA, Casablanca Smart City will continue to promote the exchange of expertise among territories, strengthening the connections between Morocco, Africa, and major international metropolises.
Casablanca Confirms Its International Ambition
Through Casablanca Smart City 2026, the metropolis affirms its ambition to establish itself as a regional and continental reference point for sustainable urban innovation.
As the first African city to be integrated into the IEEE Smart City Initiative’s network of excellence in 2015, Casablanca is continuing its transformation with a vision where attractiveness, sustainability, inclusion, and collective intelligence constitute the pillars of metropolitan development.
Ten years after its initial editions, Casablanca Smart City is thus opening a new chapter in its history, with the goal of fostering an augmented, vibrant, resilient, and future-oriented metropolis.
