Cement in Morocco: 5.73 Million Tons Sold by End of May 2026, a Slight Decline in Activity

Moroccan Cement Market Sees Slight Decline in Activity

As of the end of May 2026, the Moroccan cement market has recorded a total volume of 5.73 million tons sold, according to the latest sector data, indicating a slight slowdown in activity compared to the same period last year.

This consumption level reflects the changes in deliveries made by members of the Professional Association of Cement Manufacturers, which includes the key players in the industry. Compared to the end of May 2025, the market shows an estimated decline of about 5%, suggesting moderated demand in the construction and public works sectors.

In May 2026 alone, cement deliveries were just over 1.21 million tons, down from approximately 1.53 million tons a year earlier, marking a significant decrease of more than 20%. This monthly contraction largely accounts for the slowdown observed in the annual cumulative totals.

This trend occurs within a context characterized by variable construction cycles, influenced by the execution of large infrastructure projects, real estate investments, and the dynamics of public and private programs.

Despite this decline, the overall delivery level remains above the five-million-ton mark, confirming the structural resilience of the cement sector, which is seen as a key indicator of economic activity in the construction sector in Morocco.

Industry professionals continue to monitor demand trends in the coming months, particularly with the anticipated resumption of certain infrastructure projects and investments related to urban development.
