Islamic Solidarity Games: Moroccan athlete Salaheddine Ben Yazide claimed the gold medal in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Monday evening during the athletics events of the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, taking place in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Ben Yazide completed the race with a time of 8 minutes and 51.64 seconds.

The silver medal went to Djiboutian athlete Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim, who finished with a time of 8:51.89, while Algerian competitor Omar Seraich secured third place with a time of 8:51.96.

After his victory, Ben Yazide expressed his joy, highlighting that he effectively managed the race and maintained his pace right up to the finish line, which enabled him to secure first place.

The race was challenging and marked by fierce competition, he noted, adding that the final meters were characterized by a rapid pace.

With this victory, Morocco has now amassed a total of 16 medals: 8 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze, temporarily placing them in 7th position on the medal table.
