TGCC Secures New Contract for Kénitra-Marrakech High-Speed Rail Project

TGCC has won a new contract as part of the Kénitra-Marrakech High-Speed Rail (LGV) project. According to the final results of the tender published by the National Railway Office (ONCF), the company will be responsible for the construction of the Marrakech-Guéliz station as well as the Marrakech technicentre.

The contract is valued at 562.7 million dirhams and pertains to Lot No. 3 of a program focused on the construction of stations, technicentres, and maintenance facilities aimed at supporting the expansion of Morocco’s high-speed rail network to Marrakech.

Two Moroccan construction groups competed for this contract. TGCC submitted a bid of 562.7 million dirhams, compared to SGTM’s bid of 572.8 million dirhams. The ONCF selected TGCC’s offer as it was deemed compliant and the most economically advantageous, even though the bid exceeded the initial estimate by the contracting authority, which was set at 490 million dirhams.

The future Marrakech-Guéliz station will be a strategic hub in the extension of the LGV to the ochre city. It is expected to facilitate the anticipated increase in rail traffic and promote interconnections between high-speed trains, conventional lines, and other urban transport modes.

Meanwhile, the Marrakech technicentre will play a crucial role in the operation of the future line. This facility will be dedicated to the maintenance, upkeep, and inspection of high-speed trains, thereby enhancing the technical capabilities of the rail network in the southern region of the Kingdom.

This contract is part of a broader programme for the expansion of the LGV between Kénitra and Marrakech, which includes the construction of new rail infrastructures, the modernization of stations, and the establishment of maintenance and operational facilities. Ultimately, this project aims to extend the existing high-speed rail corridor currently operating between Tangier and Casablanca.
