Moroccan Airports Continue to Experience Growth in Early 2026

Moroccan airports are maintaining their growth momentum in early 2026, having recorded over 12.3 million passengers by the end of April, confirming the strong recovery of air transport in Morocco.

According to data published by the National Airports Authority, total commercial traffic reached 12,336,962 travelers, marking a 9.7% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Mohammed V Airport Confirms Its Role as the Kingdom’s Main Hub

Mohammed V Airport remains the country’s primary airport platform, welcoming over 3.75 million passengers in the first four months of the year. This airport alone accounts for more than 30% of national traffic and has seen a growth of 12.6% compared to the end of April 2025, further solidifying its strategic positioning within Morocco’s air transport network.

Significant Growth for Regional Airports

Several regional airports have also achieved remarkable performances. Beni Mellal Airport posted the highest growth rate at +27.06%, followed by Moulay Ali Cherif Airport with +18.53%. Meanwhile, Rabat-Salé Airport grew by 13.48%, and Tanger Ibn Battouta Airport saw an increase of 11.5%.

The airports of Nador El Aroui, Marrakech-Menara, and Agadir Al Massira also experienced notable increases exceeding 10%. This overall dynamic has been primarily driven by the growth in international traffic.

International Traffic Remains the Driver of Growth

By the end of April 2026, international flights totaled more than 11 million passengers, reflecting a growth of 9.54%, while domestic traffic surpassed 1.26 million travelers, up 11.1%. The European market continues to dominate, making up over 80% of international traffic and growing by 9.64%.

Other markets showed strong growth as well, notably Africa at +19.61%, North America at +21.98%, the Maghreb region at +13.65%, and South America with an impressive increase of 41.24%. In contrast, the Middle and Far East segment recorded a slight decline of 4.62%.

Increase in Air Traffic and Freight

Airport activity has progressed with over 91,000 aircraft movements registered across various Moroccan airports by the end of April 2026, indicating a year-over-year increase of 10.35%. Air freight is also on the rise, with over 39,500 tons transported, reflecting an 11.83% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This trend confirms Morocco’s strengthening position as a regional air hub.
