Moroccans Spent Over 1.08 Billion Euros in Spain in 2025 Amidst Strong Tourism Trends
Tourism exchanges between Morocco and Spain continue to strengthen, driven by geographical proximity, the development of air and maritime links, as well as the historical and cultural ties that unite the two countries. This dynamic makes both markets preferred destinations on either side of the Mediterranean.
According to data published by Turespaña, the official body for promoting Spanish tourism, travelers residing in Morocco spent 1.084 billion euros during their stays in Spain in 2025, marking an increase of 16.7% compared to 2024.
The statistics reveal that the average expenditure per Moroccan traveler was 1,193 euros per stay, while the daily average spending reached 193 euros, with an average length of stay of 6.2 days. These results underscore the growing significance of the Moroccan market for the Spanish tourism industry.
At the same time, Morocco is climbing the ranks as one of the most favored destinations for travelers from Spain. The Kingdom’s diverse tourism offerings, which combine cultural heritage, nature, leisure, and beach tourism, continue to attract an increasing number of visitors.
In 2025, Morocco recorded a record year by welcoming nearly 19.8 million tourists, an increase of 14% compared to the previous year. International tourism revenues exceeded 14.8 billion dollars, illustrating the robust dynamics of the sector.
This trend continued during the first five months of 2026, with the arrival of 7.7 million tourists, marking an annual growth of 7%. Preliminary data also indicate hundreds of thousands of visitors from the Spanish market since the beginning of the year.
Spain remains one of the main source markets for tourists heading to Morocco. In 2025, approximately 4.1 million travelers arrived in the Kingdom from Spain, representing an increase of nearly 13%. This figure includes all travelers coming from Spain, whether they are Spanish nationals, Moroccans residing in Spain, or travelers of other nationalities transiting through the country.
