Public Investment Efforts in Morocco Projected to Reach 400 Billion Dirhams by 2027
According to a presentation note from the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Public Performance, Morocco’s overall public investment effort is expected to reach 400 billion dirhams by 2027, as outlined in the draft finance law (PLF) for the upcoming year.
This funding will be allocated among public institutions and enterprises, including the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, the state’s general budget, special treasury accounts, and local authorities.
Public institutions and enterprises are set to mobilize 251 billion dirhams, while 124 billion dirhams will be dedicated to the general budget, special treasury accounts, and autonomously managed state services, after accounting for transfers between these entities. Local authorities will receive 25 billion dirhams.
The investment programs for public institutions and enterprises will primarily focus on sectors such as energy, telecommunications, housing, agriculture, electricity, drinking water, phosphates and their derivatives, as well as highways and air, sea, and rail transport.
Investments financed by the special treasury accounts will specifically target infrastructure development in roads, agriculture, water and forests, audiovisual projects, housing, justice, culture, and sports, along with socio-educational programs.
Meanwhile, local authorities will direct their investments toward enhancing the quality of life for citizens, focusing on improving road and sanitation networks, constructing cultural and sports facilities, developing markets and public buildings, and creating gardens and green spaces.
