Operation Riaya 2025-2026: Reinforced National Health System
Operation Riaya 2025-2026: Enhanced Healthcare Measures for Cold-Affected Areas
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has officially announced the launch of the “Riaya 2025-2026” operation, in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This national initiative aims to improve access to healthcare for populations living in regions exposed to cold waves, as part of the National Plan for Climate Change Mitigation.
Running from November 15, 2025, to March 30, 2026, the operation will cover 31 provinces across 8 regions, including Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, the Oriental region, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Drâa-Tafilalet, Fès-Meknès, Souss-Massa, Marrakech-Safi, and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.
This initiative aims to provide nearby healthcare services, including primary care, curative and preventive consultations, awareness campaigns, and the mobilization of medical units in remote areas. For effective care, registered cases will benefit from specialized medical campaigns and priority access to referral hospitals.
The Ministry emphasizes that 523 health centers located in the affected areas are now equipped with the necessary human resources, medical equipment, medications, and logistical means. Additionally, the operation plans for 3,528 field visits, 183 specialized medical caravans, and mini-campaigns to meet all identified medical needs.
To ensure the success of the operation, 2,817 healthcare professionals have been mobilized, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, and administrative teams. Modern biomedical equipment—such as portable ultrasound machines, mini-analyzers, dental chairs, and refractometers—along with mobile health units and ambulances, will strengthen field interventions.
An exceptional budget of 11.32 million dirhams has been allocated for the procurement of medications and health products, in addition to a supplementary budget of 2.582 million dirhams for fuel and equipment maintenance.
The Ministry reminds that the success of this initiative also depends on the involvement of all partners: local authorities, elected officials, the private sector, and associations and organizations active in the health field. Thus, the Riaya 2025-2026 operation fully aligns with the Kingdom’s commitment to an equitable, inclusive, and resilient healthcare system.
