Royal Air Maroc Launches Direct Route to Essaouira

Royal Air Maroc Introduces New Direct Flight Route Between Casablanca and Essaouira

Beginning November 1, 2026, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will launch a new direct flight service between Casablanca and Essaouira. This route, operating twice a week, aims to facilitate travel, enhance the tourist appeal of the coastal city known as the "City of the Trade Winds," and support economic development in the Marrakech-Safi region.

Two Weekly Flights Connecting Casablanca and Essaouira

Royal Air Maroc is expanding its domestic network with the introduction of a direct connection from Casablanca to Essaouira, starting November 1, 2026. This service has been established under an agreement with the Marrakech-Safi region and will run every Wednesday and Sunday.

The launch of this route is designed to improve access to Essaouira for residents, tourists, and business professionals alike. It’s part of larger efforts to bolster connectivity across the regions of Morocco and aid in their economic and tourism development.

According to Hamid Addou, the CEO of Royal Air Maroc, this initiative aligns with the airline’s mission to promote Moroccan tourism internationally and facilitate mobility within the country. He emphasized that this connection will bring regions closer together, catering to the needs of tourists, families, and business travelers.

Round-Trip Fares Starting at 800 MAD

To make this destination more accessible, the national airline has announced fixed fares for round-trip tickets. The price is set at 800 MAD for economy class and 1,600 MAD for business class.

Beyond providing a direct link between the two cities, this new service will also improve Essaouira’s connection to Royal Air Maroc’s international network.

Thanks to the Casablanca hub, which serves 86 international destinations, travelers will have more options for connecting to other destinations.

Essaouira Aims for Improved Air Connectivity

This new route represents an additional opportunity for the tourism development of Essaouira, a destination renowned for its historical heritage, stunning Atlantic coastline, and vibrant cultural identity.

The city’s medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2001, is one of its major attractions. Enhancing its air accessibility may facilitate stays for both national and international visitors while supporting the activities of tourism professionals.

The launch of this route is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the domestic air network. The goal is to reduce the relative isolation of certain regions, facilitate travel between areas, and contribute to a more equitable distribution of tourism’s economic benefits.
