Trump Announces Meeting with Zelensky to Discuss Peace Agreement with Russia

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would host his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, at the White House on Monday, aiming to negotiate a peace agreement that “would end the war” between Russia and Ukraine.
This statement was made on the Truth Social platform, just one day after a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place in Alaska. The U.S. president called the exchange “very successful,” noting that he continued discussions late into the night by phone with Zelensky, as well as with several European leaders, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
“Everyone agrees that the best way to end this horrific war is to reach a genuine peace agreement, rather than merely a ceasefire, which often does not hold for long,” Trump emphasized.
He also mentioned that if significant progress is made, a new meeting would be organized with Vladimir Putin.
On Friday, the U.S. president had already pointed out “major advancements” following his summit with the Russian leader.
