Rabat: UCESA and ECOSOCC Strengthen Cooperation to Accelerate African Integration

The Union of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions of Africa (UCESA) and the Economic, Social, and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOCC) signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday in Rabat, aimed at strengthening their cooperation and increasing the participation of economic and social actors in the continent’s development and integration policies.
The agreement was signed by Abdelkader Amara, President of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) of Morocco and current President of UCESA, and Louis Cheick Sissoko, President of the ECOSOCC of the African Union.
This partnership envisions the enhancement of dialogue, the sharing of expertise, and the implementation of joint initiatives on matters of common interest. It specifically aims to engage civil society organizations more actively in major transformation projects across Africa, particularly the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Special attention will be given to women and youth, especially in areas such as employment, skills development, innovation, mobility, and sustainable water resource management.
The signing of this agreement also marks the first official event organized at the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of UCESA in Rabat. Through this cooperation, the two organizations aim to contribute to strengthening participatory governance and achieving integration and sustainable development goals in Africa.
