SGTM Wins a 1.8 Billion Dirham Contract for the Modernization of the Port of Casablanca

The SGTM group secured a significant contract on May 21, 2026, for the development of container terminals at the port of Casablanca. This contract was awarded following an international tender launched by Marsa Maroc, with an estimated budget of approximately 1.8 billion dirhams, including all taxes.
This new project reaffirms the investment momentum focused on the strategic port infrastructure of the Kingdom.
A Modernization and Capacity Enhancement Project
The planned works involve rehabilitating the existing infrastructure of the container terminals. The project includes dredging the docks, expanding handling areas, and optimizing maneuvering spaces.
The technical objective is to increase dock depth to 15 meters, with a configuration allowing for up to 16 meters in the future, to accommodate larger vessels and enhance the operational performance of the port.
A Comprehensive Investment Program to Double Capacity
This project is part of a comprehensive investment program estimated at 3.2 billion dirhams, aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the port of Casablanca.
By 2027, the annual capacity of the port is expected to increase from 1.3 million to 2.2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), marking a significant enhancement of the Casablanca logistics hub.
SGTM Strengthens Its Position in Major National Projects
With this new contract, SGTM bolsters its presence in major port and logistics infrastructure projects in Morocco. The group is already involved in several key projects, including Nador West Med and the Dakhla Atlantic port.
Its portfolio also includes large-scale projects in transportation and infrastructure, such as the Mohammed V Airport hub terminal, the Grand Stade Hassan II, and the Kénitra–Marrakech high-speed rail line.
By the end of 2025, the group’s order book stood at approximately 35.1 billion dirhams, confirming its significant role in delivering major infrastructure projects at the national level.
